When Kobe Construction took on the 2025 erection of the Fisher & Paykel HOME building — a project led by Naylor Love — it was their most ambitious mass timber project to date. The building’s three levels of LVL diagrid structure, extensive CLT components, and distinctive heart-shaped form demanded something beyond standard construction practice — absolute clarity between the digital model and the field at every stage. As the team responsible for both offsite assembly and onsite installation, their success depended on information flowing cleanly from model to daily activity, without interruption.
Naylor Love also utilised Trimble technology across the site, reflecting a shared commitment to digital construction practice on the project.
The Trimble Ri and Trimble Connect workflow made that possible. The connected viewer and shared status features helped the team follow deliveries, track installation progress, and manage any issues without slowing work onsite. With the right information available at the right time, the build ran smoother and more coordinated than would have otherwise been possible — a direct result of the digital and physical working in sync.
On the ground, fast and precise measurements taken from a safe distance reduced risk and helped the team place every assembly and component with confidence — drawing attention from everyone who visited the site.
Kobe Construction believe tools like the Trimble Ri and Trimble Connect mark a turning point for complex timber construction in New Zealand. With support from BuildingPoint NZ, the team was able to perform and document to a standard that was simply not possible before — and the scale and complexity of the Fisher & Paykel new HQ project stands as a testament to what this platform enables.

Trimble, through BuildingPoint NZ, has simply enabled us to perform and document to an extremely high and efficient standard that was previously not possible. The complexities and scale of the Fisher & Paykel new HQ project is a testament to this platform and how construction projects should be delivered.
As Kobe Construction continues to look at improving their workflow both onsite and in the office, the next step is the adoption of the X9 Scanner — to review delivery and create QA models referenced back to the IFC files used on their Ri Total Station. This will allow them to utilise these models as As-Built Documents, forming part of their QA handoff deliverables to clients.
Kobe Construction and Naylor Love both brought Trimble technology to the Fisher & Paykel HOME Building site — a sign of how integrated digital workflows are becoming across New Zealand’s most complex builds.
When competing for the most challenging projects in the market, confidence in the tools is everything — from Precon planning in the office, through site assembly, installation accuracy and tolerances, to producing quality QA for clients. For Kobe Construction, that confidence is now built on Trimble, through BuildingPoint NZ.
